The Impact of Ethical Sourcing on Local Communities

One of the most inspiring aspects of the Co-Impact Sourcing® initiative is how it connects essential oil production with meaningful social impact. By working directly with farmers and producers around the world, doTERRA has created a sourcing model that supports both product quality and community development.

In many regions, traditional farming communities face challenges such as unstable income, limited access to markets, and environmental pressures. Ethical sourcing programs can help address these issues by providing long-term partnerships, fair compensation, and training in sustainable agricultural practices.

What I find particularly valuable about Co-Impact Sourcing is its focus on collaboration. Instead of simply purchasing raw materials, the program builds relationships with local growers. This approach helps ensure that communities benefit from economic opportunities while also preserving their cultural knowledge and natural resources.

It would be great to hear from others in this group:

  • Which sourcing stories or regions have inspired you the most?

  • How do you think ethical sourcing can continue to evolve in the future?

I’m always interested in learning more about how responsible sourcing can create positive change for farmers, communities, and consumers alike.
